What to do if you want a break from your job search.

What to do if you want a break from your job search.

We all work, and for many of us… we never get a break. I’ve worked with coaching clients who are often having the first break of their adult lives when they are in between jobs.

So what happens when you feel like you want to take a break and not necessarily find a job right away? When you want to take some time off from working?

When you feel like this, and you are not wanting to go right back into work, you need to think about why you are feeling this way. There are two things I tell my clients to consider:

First thing, don’t dismiss these feelings. There may be a way you can do this and still have a positive impact on your job search.

Often people have some passion project or community project they want to take part in and that is fine. Look at how you can make that happen. Your experience with this is probably going to add to your resume and job search.

The other option is to consider an official “sabbatical” and take more time off. Make sure to plan financially for this and look at it as an option that may benefit you in the long run.

What should you do? It’s all about knowing what you want and making a decision. Be strategic about it the same as you should with your job search. (This is something we cover in my free job searching mini training.)
