If a person suddenly loses consciousness who, evidently, doesn't respond to calls or tapping on the shoulder and you are alone with the victim, take the following simple steps.
Immediately call your local emergency number or shout out for help. The help should call for an ambulance, a healthcare professional or transportation to the hospital.
Carefully position the victim safely laying him on his back facing upwards
Check the breathing: If the victim isn't breathing or is only gasping, clear the mouth of obstructions or food particles
Give chest compressions: "Push hard and push fast" and get an AED (for defibrillation); if one is available. Keep pushing until the person starts to breathe or move or someone with more advanced training takes over.
