What do you think about when you size your dosing pumps?

Do you just choose what you've had before or do you look at something new? Is what you had previously the best pump for your application?

Or do you think about:

1. Cost of the pump . . . what's the cheapest to buy?

2. Dose rates . . . will your selected pump have enough range to cope with dry and wet seasons or will you have to compromise?

3. Control, Pressure (Suction and Discharge)

4. Cost of spares?

5. Ancillary Equipment . . . what else do you need, (Foot Valve, Backpressure Valve, Pulsation dampener, Level detector on your supply, degassing valves. Will all that fit in the cabinet?

What if you had a pump with a 2000:1 range (0.1ml/min - 2000ml/min), with all the control you need and didn't need any of the above Ancillary Equipment, so then you may need to use a smaller cabinet, how much does that save you?
