What do you think he thinks about that?

Stoic Quote of the Week:
Keep this thought at the ready at daybreak, and through the day and night? there is only one path to happiness, and that is in giving up all outside of your sphere of choice, regarding nothing else as your possession... -Epictetus
What I learned this week:
You know it is a funny thing that goes on in our mind. I have held back on an action or decision because I wondered what someone would think about it. To make that delay even worse, I am wondering what that person will think without even asking them what they will think. I have allowed that thought to drive me not do something or delay an action for months. When in reality, that person or persons, real or perceived, has no opinion or even better, may think what I am trying to do is a great idea. Because I have this thought in my head, I’ve held back on actions. All I need to do is take some steps forward, say to myself, what’s the worst that can happen, and give it a run.
Planning thought of the week:
The first step to solving any problem is recognizing that it is a problem, and it needs solving. Step 2 is to envision the results of the problem, followed by step 3, what is the outcome you will achieve by solving the problem. Some will debate that you should clearly define the problem, using the military process of mission analysis prior to the vision and outcome. That’s academic. Do what makes sense to you. But have a vision and outcome to your problem looks like when solved.
Business idea I heard about or thought of:
The howdy app. I want someone to create an app that sends a smile to people when I walk by them on the street or in the store. Since we are all wearing masks for the next many months to come and everyone carries a phone, I want to send that person I walk by in the aisle at the store a smiley face. If I wasn’t wearing a mask, they would see me smile at them. Doesn’t need to be anything fancy, just a smiley emoji that pops up on their screen. I know that phones ping each other via Bluetooth so, the connection exists. I just need someone to put the app together for me. I think I’ll call it the Howdy Smile app.
Veteran opportunity of the week:
I am seeing more and more about filing an appeal or updating your disability claim with the VA. If you are not receiving compensation for your service-related disabilities the process is getting easier to file that claim. There are businesses that will do the paperwork for you if you don’t want to take the time to do it yourself. The process has gotten a lot easier. Someone I met this week:
Have you ever met someone that you feel like everything they say, you want to say, “yeah, what you said!”? Well I met someone like that again this week, Charmin is a Navy vet. She is building her coaching and consulting business and it is exciting to hear her talk about it. I was introduced to her because a friend of mine thought I would be a good speaker for veteran transition virtual conference she is putting together for Nov. Charmin’s focus on building her business and helping vets is right in line with mine, so we had plenty to talk about. Keep an eye out for the conference that she is putting together for this fall.
