what do you think?

Remember that feeling of being carried away with a sense of excitement? Or how about the thrill of being so completely caught up in the moment that time just whizzes by? I’m talking about those moments of real joy and enthusiasm, which I’m missing right now, and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. With all that’s happened over the past few months, a lack of joie de vivre is understandable, but I’m hoping to resurrect it or at least try to encourage it to make an appearance - in myself and in those around me! And I hope you feel the same way!

Enthusiasm is a sense of inspiration. It actually comes from the Greek word entheos, which means “the god within.” Being enthusiastic is about connecting to your inner power and bringing energy and excitement to things that you’re doing. It’s a feeling of being truly alive with all your cylinders firing.

I feel that most of us right now probably could stand to recharge our batteries with some enthusiasm and zest for life. Of course, you can’t fake those feelings, but we may need to go through the motions initially to jump-start the process of connecting and reviving our own inner fire.

You may have your own ideas for doing that, but I’m sharing some suggestions of my own.

1. How’s your posture right now? Are you sitting up straight and breathing well? If not, bring your shoulders back and your head up, and take a deep breath. Take another deep breath and say to yourself “I’m alive and it feels good.” Hopefully, that thought alone brings a smile to your face!??
2. How are you engaging your mind right now? Take an interest in something… maybe it’s something you’ve been curious about but have allowed yourself to explore. Well, there’s no time like the present!
3. Cathrine, get yourself moving in whatever way works for you! Walking, biking, running and dancing are all good ways to lift your spirits and get your heart pumping.
3. If you feel caught in a monotonous routine, then carry out that task differently! In the process, you certainly won’t just be going through the motions, and you may even see it with fresh eyes!
3. Surround yourself with positive people and a welcoming environment. They say enthusiasm is contagious and, if that’s the case, I think most of us would welcome the contact!

I think that most of us could stand a dose of enthusiasm right now. Hopefully, my suggestions will help get you started. And maybe you can find ways of doing that on your own this week.

I’ll leave you with some words from the French writer Emile Zola, which are the epitome of enthusiasm -- “If you ask me what I came to do in this world…I will answer you: ‘I am here to live out loud!”
