What do you see in your mirror?

What is love? Is it a feeling? Is it an emotion? Is it coming from your brain or heart? It is said that love comes from our heart. Heart is the?symbol?of love. We even say things like heartfelt gratitude, heartfelt condolences, skipped a beat and so on. All these phrases?relate our emotions to the heart. The biological function of the heart is to pump blood throughout the body. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and removes waste products. So, despite being one of the most studied behaviors, love is still a mystery.

Love is the most?divine thing that we all can experience. Love is often described as an emotion, but it is a complex phenomenon that encompasses different aspects of human experience. It is not just we humans, even animals like our pets can experience love and they love in return. Depending on the relationship, the love we cherish differs. Although the emotion is similar across different relationships, the specific type of love we experience with each person is unique.

? Parental love: This is the unconditional love that parents have for their children. It is based on a sense of deep connection and commitment. It is often characterized by feelings of protection, nurturance, and acceptance.

? Romantic love: This is the love we experience with our partner or spouse. It is often characterized by feelings of passion, desire, intimacy, and commitment.

? Friendship love: This is the love we experience with our close friends. It is often characterized by feelings of companionship, trust, and loyalty.

? Altruistic love: This is the love we feel for others, even if we don't know them personally. It is often characterized by feelings of compassion, empathy, and a desire to help others.

? Philia: This is the love we experience with our colleagues, neighbors, and other acquaintances. It is often characterized by feelings of respect, appreciation, and a sense of belonging.

I am sure that most of you could have experienced all these types of love.

According to scientific studies, there is no single brain region or chemical that can be identified as the "love hormone" or "love chemical." Love is a complex emotion that is influenced by a variety of factors, including our genetics, our experiences, and our environment.

There are a number of brain regions that are involved in the experience of love, including the amygdala, the hypothalamus, and the ventral tegmental area. These regions are involved in processing emotions, reward, and motivation. When we fall in love, these regions are activated, which leads to the release of hormones such as Oxytocin, Vasopressin, Dopamine and Norepinephrine. These hormones produce feelings of pleasure, excitement, and attachment.

? Oxytocin: This hormone is released when we are physically affectionate with someone. It plays a role in bonding and attachment.

? Vasopressin: This hormone is released during physical intimacy. It promotes feelings of loyalty and protectiveness.

? Dopamine: This neurotransmitter is associated with pleasure and reward. It is involved in the initial stages of infatuation.

? Norepinephrine: This neurotransmitter is associated with arousal and alertness. It contributes to the feelings of excitement and passion that are often associated with love.

When these brain chemicals are activated, they can create a powerful emotional response that can lead to feelings of love. However, it is important to remember that love is not just a chemical reaction. It is also a complex emotion that is influenced by our thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

Here is an example to give you a fair idea of how these hormones work. Dopamine is produced every time?when you see, hear or talk to a men/woman when you have a crush on him/her. Dopamine gives pleasure which is same as the pleasure enjoyed by someone when they use drugs. It becomes an addiction, and not getting it can make one behave violently.

Now imagine that you are in an island nation along with a beautiful woman who is too sexy. It could be your wife or girlfriend. You live there in a big mansion. When you and your wife/girlfriend go out in a car, you see people there whose appearance is same?as the one you see around in your real life. Even the school students, their uniform and buildings you see are same as in your real life. Everyone on that island loves you and respects you. You have no financial worries and hatred.?

Your real life is not a blank canvas where you can wake up one morning and draw whatever you what. But you can change things eventually. Spread love and not hatred. Most often people including strangers will return your smile. It is possible that some people you know may not return your smile. This could be due to a number of factors, such as past unpleasant experiences, personality differences, or social stigmas like color, race and religion.

Things will change gradually, regardless of how bad you were to people around or how bad the people around are to you. Relationships will improve over a period of time. So, spread love and only love. The behavior of people you see around is like a mirror. It will often reflect what is there in your mind, face and words.
