What Do You Really Do?
How do you respond when someone asks, “What do you do for work?”. Do you say, “I have a property management business” or “I work in real estate". That sounds pretty basic, what do you really do?
Behind all of the long hours, phone calls, late appointments and sleepless nights something else drives you. There is a reason why you put such pressure on yourself to succeed and why you take on every client’s need as if it was your own.
Why do you put in so much effort?
Regardless of what you do the world will judge you, it’s a fact! The brain works fast, within the first 4 seconds of a stranger seeing you, they have already stereotyped you and formed an opinion about who they think you are. It isn’t intentional, it’s instinct, a survival mechanism and most of the time we don’t even recognise we are doing it, but we are.
We have all grown up in a society of judgement and criticism which has taught us to hide our real selves, our dreams and our beliefs for the fear of being out of alignment with others. If we want to get anywhere there is a pressure to conform and fit in, some will tell you to make your own path and when you do, some will want to see you fail.
We live in a world where children are forced to grow up quicker than their years and must let go of their imagination before they should. There is constant worry and doubt surrounding us in our daily lives and for many it seems impossible to find a place that we can go to escape it. It is difficult to find a place that allows us to let our guard down and just be ourselves, you know… that person who deep down you know you are and were born to be.
But there is one place...
A place where we can go to be who we want to be and escape those worries, a place where we can be ourselves, express our personality and share that with those we trust. This special place is closer than you might think, we call it Home!
A home is not just a place, it’s not just four walls and a roof, it is more than a construction of timber, bricks and tiles, it is more than its location or neighbours.
A home is not just a place, it’s a feeling... a place where you can close the door and shut out the rest of the world and feel comfortable and safe. Your home is about you and your imagination, you can share it with the people you love and those you feel comfortable with.
It is a sanctuary where you can express your personality and passions
Everyone deserves a place like this. Anywhere you go you will find that the need for a home lives in us all and your business exists to find people homes.
It is about time to get serious about what you do and what position your business fills in your community. The Australian Residential Real Estate market is a $7.5 trillion dollar industry, it is the largest capital base we have in the country and it is driven by one thing… Having a place to call home!
So, what are the values in your business? How do you want your people to treat your tenants and landlords? And does your level of service provide this feeling to those you have the privilege to serve?
Your business is more than a real estate agency!
Your business provides more than you could imagine, as the leader it is your job to ensure everyone on your team knows how important their role is and the difference they make in the lives of others. Make them feel proud about the work they do and give them the authority to make people who interact with your business… feel at home.
Best Wishes,
Brad
