What Do You Most Love About Photography?
Late last week I was asked a question I’ve been asked a number of times; “What do you most love about photography?”
A BIG QUESTION - with little space here to properly answer!!
Commercially, it’s fantastic to be able to use imagery to show what a business does, where it is and what it looks like. Property and Machinery can be amazing to see in its actual surroundings and to be able to “put faces to names” of people within a business offers a very powerful introduction. What a great thing photography is when it helps to bring all this to life!
On a personal level, photographs help us remember - whether that’s a person’s particular smile or look, or a place we love to see. And the amazing thing is, even when our memories serve us well, a photograph can help us relive the emotional connection we had to someone, or somewhere, that we loved. That’s a great thing about having an image we can hold in our hands (even if on a phone or tablet!) that really means something to us.
There’s a lot more I could say but for now, let me simply add that I continue to be excited about photography and its capabilities as technology advances and allows us to capture moments (and movement) more effectively.
I’ll end on an entirely personal note. I have been a huge fan of Glencoe and surrounding area all my life, however, this year was my first opportunity to see it in deep snow. The attached photograph (a small preview image) is one of many that I took in January when the temperature dropped to an all-time record low. It was also the first time camping for a while!! I love to look over those images, especially since the snow isn’t there just now and I remember “the feeling of being there”.
