What do you know?
It doesn't matter if you went to college or not, if you've been doing what you do for years or decades or if you are in a position to teach it to others......if you think for one minute that you are done learning, you are a fool.
Technologies, social climates, processes and environments are constantly changing and if you are not changing right along with them YOU, alone, will be responsible for your own obsolescence. Hoping to avoid that? You certainly should, but that said whose responsibility is it to continue your education?
If you are fortunate enough to be employed by a company financially vested and able to offer ongoing courses than the opportunity is right in front of you on a silver platter. Even so, YOU still have to be the one to sign up, attend and pay attention. YOU still have to be the one to care enough about the process to gain the knowledge intended. YOU have to see the value in learning and apply it.
And if the opposite is true and educational opportunities are not offered in abundance? It still all boils down to YOU. Lets face it, if you want something badly enough you go get it. YOU sign up for classes on your own (paid or not), YOU pay attention to those around you with advanced knowledge, YOU take note, YOU ask questions and YOU do what it takes to continually improve and learn.
YOU can think you are the smartest person in the room or YOU can understand that there is no such thing because even the "smartest" person is still learning.
So when asked "What do you know?", proudly answer "I'm still learning!". Because if you are wise - you are.
