So what do you know about yourself that you withhold from many if not all. And why?
Financial imbalance? Health risks? Addictions? Unfaithfulness? Fear?

We think the "Blind Area" is over-weighted in most instances of growth and analysis because deeper, richer Character, Value and Trauma elements often reside in the very space where the Leader has "chosen" to deceive others. We know many leaders who behave this way, right?
There is something calculated, deliberate and almost Machiavellian in a Leader's decision to be known for more that she or he is, or for something different than they know themselves to be. Positioning themselves to be smarter? Richer? More empathic than is true?
Conversely, reflect on your ability/willingness to Trust a colleague or manager or Board Member or CEO who shares delicate personal facts you otherwise could not have known.
Next time you recruit a CEO or President to scale your valuable start-up investment or PE venture, consider (and explore) 2 potent questions:
- what does this person NOT know about themselves; AND
- what does this person KNOW about themselves that they are deliberately holding back.
I may forgive the first, in some cases. The second: unpardonable if concealment is strategic. You could be headed for a disaster if you do not get to the bottom of it.

4 年What are some examples of a major "hide" of yours or a dear friend's, where it surprised you? For years, one of mine was "being Fired" (ok, it looked like an extended "send him gardening" contract negotiation) by a company where I no longer wanted to work, however, the timing was theirs, not mine!
