-?Stay Calm

To begin with, it’s critically important to keep yourself calm, and try not to panic, especially if you get claustrophobic. Your fellow passengers, too, might lose their calm and this could worsen the situation further.

?- Follow The Guidelines

Most elevators these days have guidelines inside the cabin. These guidelines have the contact details of certified technicians or maybe of the building security. You can call and inform them immediately.

?-?Remain Patient

Do not try to force an opening. You may end up hurting yourself. Instead, wait for the expert to arrive. A qualified expert will help you out of the elevator through a guided protocol.

?But what should you do if you’re on the other side?

If you’re on the other side of the elevator door, and you know that there is someone stuck inside, do not try to force open an entry. It can be harmful, not just to you, but also to the person stuck inside.

?The right thing to do at this point would be to talk to the passenger stuck inside and help them stay calm. Contact the service providers of the elevator company or the security guard on duty. They will send help as soon as possible.

It’s also important for the society members and the secretary to conduct situational drills where these safety points can be demonstrated to the society members. This precautionary measure would be similar to fire drills and can help the members understand what to do or avoid during such an incident.
