What to do when you're NEW

Hi Reader,
I am reaching out to you and your friends and colleagues, who may be new in a job / role. In my limited experience, I've had the opportunity to work in diverse environments, geographies and industries, something most of my colleagues may consider too much of a risk.
So here's a few things to keep in mind, when getting started.
On your first day, everyone will form opinions about you. The way you dress, the way you talk, the way you laugh, what you eat, who you talk to, everything would be noticed. Its human nature to be perceptive, let the people see the best version of you. Over a period of time, they would see who you are, but the first impressions last and hence, everything you do should be well thought through. Mingle with everyone, be properly dressed (in my experience, formal is best), be friendly but serious.
Everyone has a desire to stand out of the crowd, but don't rush it. Understand, learn and question what you didn't understand. Your eagerness to learn would reward 10x in coming weeks and months, so be genuinely interested in what you have taken up. You would understand things better and people would know that you're taking this seriously. People will always play a major role in making you successful, never underestimate the first point

You are new and there's a lot going on here. There would be amazing things you will notice about the org, if you spot one or few things missing, one or two amenities you're used to, live with it. Know that you've chosen to be here after a lot of thought so focus on how to make the best use of what you've got. Many a times people are negative too, may be about certain aspects, learn to keep distance / change the topic if you spot such topics. If you can't learn to stay away from negativity, you'll let your surroundings take control, which is never a good thing
Don't be someone waiting for the others to take up a new task, take up a new report. Be the one who makes notes, who helps others finish something they were working on, a person filled with ideas. Never over do this though, be ready to coin something out there and if you feel a lot of resistance, park it for later. May be once you know the process / project better, you'll have a much better way of proposing it. No idea is a bad idea, it should fit well in the scheme of things.
You don't have to better everyone. Know that there are people who may be insecure, people who are superstars and people who are struggling. Know what you're best at and do your best in supporting the others. You may learn a lot about what you're going to do by sometimes being a follower. You don't have to lead everything and its important that your team also knows that.
Learn, Support, Succeed, Lead
This is the summary of what I said above. No fancy acronym, just a sequence of events in everything new you do. I am sure there's a lot we can write about the above, but in the interest of reaching out to the latest Gen (X,Y,Z etc.) I am keeping this short. Hope this helps you out.
Feel free to comment if you liked / disliked something about the above note. I would be happy to receive any suggestions on what else you would like me to write about.
