What to do when your wife won’t let you take her picture?

We have a toddler and another on the way, so to say my wife is not enthused to get her picture taken on a daily basis, would be an understatement. So what do you do when you want to try out new lights, and experiment with new backdrops on a willing guinea pig?

You lay in wait…..

You wait for that fateful day where she has a spare few minutes and she has taken the time to put on makeup and do her hair……then you pounce.

I literally caught her walking out of the bathroom as she departed, all ready to face the day in her war paint, and whisked her off to my improvised studio in the house. Between shots she watched our daughter on the daycare cameras from her phone, and discussed the shopping list for the week. 

But as a result I got some wonderful pictures that really seem to capture her at ease as she chatted with her husband about the banalities of the day. So rarely does she sit still enough for me to catch the light in her eyes, or the sneaky smile she gives me when she is humoring me, so glad I get to share this with you all.

I hope to always capture my subjects with such an authentic sense of person.
