What To Do When You Feel Like Giving Up

I want to talk a little bit about failure and I am going to talk about some of my personal experiences in the Air Force as well. It's a good day today so it's going to be really spontaneous.
Let me start with a story - a real story:
The first days in my pilot career were the worst and best days of my life. I was still a cadet in the Air Force academy in the middle of the basic training. The experience was unimaginable. Not only physicality, but even worse mentally.
Worst days because it was a painful experience that I will never forget...
Best days because these days changed me for the better and for ever. I gained mental and physical toughness.
So, I "failed" to finish the training from the first time because of an old injury that presented again so I had to do it again.
We were 7 that "failed" in the first try.
Fast forward to today 3 out of 7 continued and managed to break through that training - I am one of them - the rest quitted.
That was when one of my other collegues turned to me and said:
"Why didn't you quit? I would have quitted if I were you and had to do it all over again..."
I turned back to him and said:
Well, that's what we signed up for, right?
That's what we signed up for.
The only people that don't fail are those that don't attempt to exceed themselves. Those that don't even try to reach their limits. Those that don't improve. Those that stay comfortable in their comfort zone. So failure is PART of success.
Same with you that you are reading it. If you recently experienced something that made you doubt about who you are and what you're doing... think about where you come from and where you're going; what is your WHY.
And if you fail, GOOD! You just found a way that doesn't work, that doesn't bring you closer to your goals. So now you can try a different path and see what happens.
Assess and readjust - Reflect daily.
From the moment you start your journey, there is no other option. Everything that you do gets you closer to your goal. Just like a pilot readjusts the course of the aircraft in order to reach their destination.
Everything that I did in my life, I only had one thing in mind:
It's only a matter of time.
That's how bad I want it. That's my mindset.
It doesn't matter where others are and how fast they reached their goals - even if it is the same goal that you have. You only have to become better than what you were yesterday. That should be your only focus.
Having my Why in mind, I keep moving forward. You have to have a strong why and everytime you feel like quitting think of that why and ask yourself:
What can I do today, that will bring me closer to (insert your why)?
If you are an entrepreneur like me, you probably have a very deep 'why' for what you are doing on a daily basis. I don't know anyone who started a business just to make some money. And if that's the case, it's going to be very difficult to endure the failures along the way and stay on track.
So oftentimes, we resist doing what we know we should be doing because we are afraid of the possible outcome; a possible failure. We don't want to fail, we don't like that. Probably because we think that we are going to be judged. People are going to say, "I told you".
I want to share one big important way of thinking that I had since I remember myself:
As long as you show up, you are winning - you can't lose no matter how many times you experience a setback
So are you going to quit? What are you going to do now?
I hope this article served you in any way, because like I said I wasn't prepared for that - I just thought of sharing some of my personal stories so you can also get inspired and not give up on your dreams.
