What do the Training department do?

The headline is a question that has recently been put to me ........................... but what is the answer?
After engaging with my team, it was pretty evident that the variety of tasks, the holistic collaboration and the diversity of duties far outweighed he initial thought of 'we deliver training'.
After reflecting through all the notes that the team supplied me, I felt an ever growing sense of pride reading through all the achievements that the team have completed. From Live in person training to virtual training, supporting our service lines in their specific training, collaborating across the business to open up revenue streams, the upgrade in quality of our SME's in terms of delivery, e-Learning libraries, pushing the usage of Linked In Learning and a simply amazing team who produce informative, engaging and eye catching flyers and brochures to highlight the learning opportunities across the company.
As a department, Training & Development is often perceived as a non generating revenue support service, indeed it could be argued that money should be directed through other parts of the business, but I know, from my daily chats with the team and the feedback I receive from various colleagues, that the value, although sometimes intangible, is priceless.
So, the me message to you all out there is - connect with & utilise your learning team, you might be delightfully surprised in what they can support you with.

1 年Although it looks at first sight that it’s an overhead that can be lost- time is money and if staff can be more effective in their roles then it’s gained back over and over again. Great article.
