What to do in such a terrible hiring market

Hey guys,

So, you’ve seen it.

Everyone you know is getting fired and no one you know is hiring.

What do you do?

Here is a 3 step plan I implement to make sure I land roles, fast.

  1. I apply on Ycombinator, Wellfound, Hired and Indeed. I do not go to LinkedIn until I’ve exhausted this list. This is because everyone uses LinkedIn to apply to jobs. And based on my recruiting connects, more people get hired off of the list above than LinkedIn these days.
  2. I pick up the phone and call my local recruiting companies. After I call them, I call recruiting companies in San Fran and NYC. This helps put me on peoples radar.
  3. I ask friends to connect me to recruiters and if they don’t have any connects, I cold message recruiters on LinkedIn.

Here are the numbers to aim for weekly (as long as you have a good resume)

Apply to 100 jobs, call 5-10 recruiting companies, and (free)message at least 50 recruiters.

Based on my experience, this’ll land you about 5-7 interviews a month of which 1-2 will come back with an offer (if you have been studying and stuff).
