What do successful entrepreneurs have in common?

What do successful entrepreneurs have in common?

The definition of success is different for each person. However, I do believe that those of us who are successful entrepreneurs have gone through some common points on our journey.?

I learned that those are the steps when I created Markafoni, the first Turkish digital entreprise to expand abroad, and I keep seeing them now that I am developing a Proptech company, Tiko:

#1 Put the focus on your goal, in what you consider a win.?

It is essential that you don’t go off the rails and do everything you decide to take a step towards success. That doesn't mean you can't deal with 5 different topics at once, but always think about how those topics are going to contribute to that end goal.

#2 Choose well who you listen to. Who do you spend your time with??

And I don't mean in your private life, your family or friends. I mean that being inspired, listening to other experiences, sharing learning is very important when you are an entrepreneur. People in your professional life who discover new worlds for you and who help you satisfy your curiosity make you more creative and decisive. A successful person does not wait for someone to call him, he decides who he spends time with and who he wants to listen to.

#3 Position yourself

Don't be afraid to stand up for your opinion in an argument. If you're thinking of changing an industry with your startup and you believe you do your job better than others, don't be afraid to explain why. Support your ideas even if you are in a hostile environment and ask questions. Do not accept the truth of others until you have questioned it and it has really convinced you.

#4 Take care of yourself and value your energy

As you progress on that path to success, people will appear who will criticize you. I’m not talking about competitors or people who give you constructive criticism. They are just haters. Usually these people disappear on their own, so don't compromise your time or mental health for them. And if they don't go away, I recommend you cut them out of your life, but don't waste energy dealing with their insults.

#5 Your loved ones

"If you don't make time for the ones you love, time will separate you from the ones you love." (a saying my great grand father used). No amount of success can fill the void created by the loss of family and friends. Do not fall into the cliché of being absorbed by the work.

#6 Don't miss the mistakes

There are few things that make you learn and improve as much as making mistakes. This is classic advice that you have surely heard from other entrepreneurs. But not being afraid of making mistakes shouldn't get you into the habit of repeating them. If you are repeating your mistakes over and over again in your life, find out why.

#7 Don't lose your fear

I mean that fear and curiosity that one feels when doing something new. If you fall into a routine, it's easy to get comfortable and not want to keep improving or overcoming fears. Get away from the routine, make an effort and give yourself the opportunity to meet new opportunities.

Are you an entrepreneur? Do these steps sound familiar to you? Would you add another one? Tell me, I want to know if you have also gone through them.?

Cool post - thank you for sharing. I particularly like the latter ones on mental hygiene, family and friends. It's so strange that the only person who has the power of making us happy or unhappy is you - yourself. So you have magic power to be happy, you can even decide with how much crap you want to deal... Don't get me wrong, being an entrepreneur is hard, incredibly hard - paranoia and worry want to consume you - work demands incredible hours and energy - you make promises to friends and beloved that you feel you must keep... the bottomless amount of energy do deal with all that in a positive attitude can only be summoned if you take care of yourself and keep things and people in your life that make you happy. Big hug to Sina!

Thank you Mr. Afra, for sharing your experience. Everything stated is of great value. Here are a few points from the perspective of an entrepreneur in the making: Embrace your true self. Make entrepreneurship an extension of your authenticity. Adopt the mindset of a free thinker. Constantly invest in new learning. Personal evolution is the ground upon which great brands are born and thrive. Love the spirit of adventure. Life & business take on new meaning when you are open to meet the unknown and have the braveness to navigate new beginnings.? As with all things in life, practice makes the difference. Don't just be a theorist. Taking action and experimenting is how we learn and how we can make a difference in our life and the world around us. Your reputation is everything. Keep this in mind no matter what. 'Success' is achieving the fine balance between doing amazing things workwise and living a meaningful life.?There is nothing more precious than peace of mind and true joy. "Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish" - Steve Jobs
