It is commonly known that con artists brainwash people into falling for their schemes by creating false identities, websites, and accounts. But, if they use a real person's profile or identity rather than creating one from scratch, the trick will be even more successful.

You're dealing with a fake account that con artists set up if you find that a hacker has made a new account using your name, profile image, and photos. They can contact people on your friends list who will believe they are speaking with you in order to carry out a variety of frauds, among other things.

Report the fake account to Facebook to get rid of the scam account. Choose "report" from the pop-up menu after clicking the three dots on the account's profile cover photo. You may then mark it as an impostor account from there.

You can urge friends and family to report the fake account on your behalf to expedite the process.

How To Keep Your Profile Page Safe From Hackers?

• For all of your internet accounts, use solid, one-of-a-kind passwords. Create strong passwords using a password manager, and store them safely somewhere you can access them right away if necessary. • All sensitive accounts should have two-factor authentication enabled. Your Facebook, banking, and email accounts are all made more secure with 2FA. While SMS messages can be intercepted or compromised, don't rely on them to deliver 2FA codes. Use an authenticator app instead, such the ones from Google or Microsoft.

• All payment methods that are connected to your account should be removed. Although these functions are useful, they pose a security risk if your account is compromised. It's preferable to completely exclude your Facebook account from any financial information.

• Disable any external applications linked to your Facebook account. Go to "Settings & Privacy," then "Settings," and finally "Apps and Websites" on the left-hand menu.

• Set up notifications for failed login attempts. You can enable notifications that will tell you anytime someone logs in to your account using a new device or browser by selecting "Setting up extra security" in your "Settings & Privacy" menu. After you receive the notice, if you don't instantly recognize the activity, you'll be aware that your account has been compromised.

• To shield your device from malware, spyware, and hackers at all times, install antivirus software and a virtual private network (VPN). This is one of the most crucial steps you can do to increase your digital security.
