Unlike Zooey Deschanel's character in 500 Days of Summer who doesn't believe in true love, we do—and it comes in the form of the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup, which is, as of this week,?under 500 days away! Preparations continue across North America for the 48-team tournament. From Toronto to Monterrey, and Los Angeles to New York, host market organizing committees posted locally-tailored hype videos to celebrate the 500-day countdown.
??? U.S. Soccer adds another brand partner to roster
The Federation announced a partnership with Home Depot, making the world's largest home improvement retailer a partner of the 27 U.S. Soccer National Teams. Home Depot will also be a partner of the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Atlanta. As part of the partnership, the duo will spotlight local Hometown Heroes creating positive impacts in their?communities.
?? MLS announces studio plans for 2025 season
The league shared updates regarding MLS Productions, its media and broadcast production arm. MLS and IMG have entered a multi-year partnership renewal where IMG will?continue to produce live game and studio productions and programming for more than 600 games on Apple TV. The renewed partnership also includes MLS Productions moving to?WWE's state-of-the-art facilities in Stamford, CT.

?? Fields set for 2025 cup competitions
Speaking of U.S. Soccer and MLS, the fields and formats for the U.S. Open Cup and Leagues Cup were both announced. The 110th edition of the U.S. Open Cup, which features?96 amateur and professional teams?(including 16 from MLS), kicks off on March 18 and concludes October 1. Leagues Cup, the competition pitting MLS and Liga MX clubs against each other, will feature 18 MLS clubs and all 18 Liga MX teams. The competition will take place from July 29 to August 31.
?? USMNT player expands?ownership portfolio
Tyler Adams is now part?of?Westchester SC's ownership group. The USL League One franchise will begin play in March and is located near where Adams grew up in New York.?He also owns Hudson Valley Hammers of USL League Two. In 2024, Adams' USMNT teammate?Timothy Weah also jumped into ownership and is part-owner of?Brooklyn FC in USL Championship.
??? Former USWNT star to host new weekly studio show
Just Women's Sports is launching a new weekly studio show with?help from former USWNT star Kelley O'Hara. The show, called Sports Are Fun!, will pair O'Hara with a revolving cast of co-hosts and guests. Discussions will focus on the biggest on-field and off-field headlines in women's sports. The first episode will premier on February 4th on the Just Women's Sports YouTube page.
?? Deloitte profiles highest revenue generating clubs
In the latest?edition of?the Deloitte Football Money League, Deloitte uses club revenues generated from match day, broadcast rights, and commercial sources to rank the 30 highest revenue generating clubs in the world. Per the report, the 2023-24 season saw Real Madrid become the first club to generate over $1 billion in a single season. Collectively, the clubs in Money League generated $11.7 billion in revenue, up 6% from the previous season.
???Qatar Airways extends partnership to 2028
The Qatari airline has extended its partnership with Paris Saint-Germain—the?third-ranked club on Deloitte's Money League list above. As part of the partnership, which began in 2022, the Qatar Airways logo will continue to feature on the club's jerseys, as well as training apparel and warm-up jerseys in all of PSG's domestic and international tournaments.
?? Field for million-dollar tournament expands
After the debut of the women's tournament last year, The Soccer Tournament (TST) announced it's doubling the field in 2025?from eight?to 16 teams. When this year's competition kicks off, over 450 women will compete for the winner-take-all $1 million prize. On the men's side, 48 teams will also compete for $1 million.?TST will return to WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC from June 4-9.
