What do SMSs and Santa have in common?

Santa Claus is the epitome of Christmas, known worldwide for his ability to deliver gifts to children on Christmas Eve. Although many of us grow up and stop believing in his existence, his legend continues to live on in our imagination and hearts.

But there is another "Santa Claus" that delivers gifts to all of us, even if we don't know it: we are talking about netnumber GDS, which manages the largest and most accurate number portability databases worldwide, enabling the delivery of SMS and calls to our phones.

Just like Santa Claus, netnumber works behind the scenes to ensure that the gifts (in this case, our text messages or voice traffic) reach their destination. When we send an SMS, our phone sends the message to a server, which in turn verifies the recipient's phone number and forwards it to the recipient's service provider. But what if those info were not accurate? What if Santa didn't know the address of every single children in the world? How disappointing and heartbreaking it would be for the good boys and girls to wake up on Christmas Day without their presents.

As Santa Claus needs its fast raindeer and sleigh to deliver gifts to children worldwide, the near real-time data services of netnumber ensure that our text messages reach their destination, no matter where we are in the world or which provider we use. Without netnumber's accurate number portability data, we might have trouble sending and receiving SMS, just like if Santa would have to deliver his gifts driving a Toyota Prius and we couldn't receive our Christmas gifts.

In a special day like this, let's express gratitude for those who play a crucial role in our everyday lives, even if we often forget about their existence. So this Christmas, when you send an SMS or you call a friend, remember to thank netnumber GDS team for its silent but essential work in delivering your messages.
