Effective personal branding requires a lot of introspection. That’s because your brand is not created, it’s unearthed. But personal branding isn’t all about self-reflection.
As you embark on this self-awareness quest, you need to seek feedback from those who know you. After all, your brand is held in the hearts and minds of those you seek to influence and impact.
In this episode:
Once you’re clear on the six drivers of your personal brand (values, passions, superpowers, differentiators, purpose and goals), it’s time to get feedback you need for total brand clarity.
Let's dive into the art of feedback gathering:
1. The power of asking: Don't be shy!
Make it a habit to ask for feedback regularly, showing genuine interest in people's thoughts. Seek validation for the six drivers of your personal brand, with questions like:
2. Review your reviews
Your annual performance review and other company-sponsored reviews can give you powerful insights into external perceptions. Searching for trends among several different reviews paint a clearer picture than individual feedback alone. Let the collective wisdom guide you.

3. The power of 360-degree feedback
Seek input from people who know you from various angles. Uncover those consistent attributes by leveraging 360 assessments, where anonymity empowers honest responses. Remember, people are more likely to tell you what they really think when they feel safe.
Get Candid 360-degree Feedback
To take get the best personal brand feedback possible, consider the 360Reach Personal Brand Survey (Disclosure: 360Reach is a product of my company, CareerBlast.TV). It's the Rhodium standard when it comes to validating your personal brand (almost 2 million people have used it!). Unlike most corporate 360s (which answer the question: How am I at XX?) 360Reach answers the question: Who am I?
With 360Reach - Complete, you'll receive specific feedback to fine-tune your brand, with a comprehensive, custom Reputation Report and access to video coaching so you can turn insights into action.
But fear not. 1 年Great article William Arruda, funny that my brand today is firmly positioned around the feedback forms people filled out at my first workshops…that was where I found the gold of “what did I do for you” that set me on my brand direction.

1 年Thank you for sharing this valuable perspective! It's essential to seek feedback to validate and refine our self-perceptions. I believe constructive feedback can be a powerful tool for personal growth and development. It helps us uncover blind spots and enhance our personal brand. Embracing feedback with an open mind and using it to evolve is key to personal and professional success.
I really appreciate this piece, William Arruda. What I have found most interesting in doing this type of thing is that it not only reveals things you may need to work on, but also things you do so well and so naturally that you can't even see them on your own. You're too close to yourself to do so! But other people who know you well can easily point them out to you—and maybe even convince you that they are NOT in fact "something everyone does." Thanks for all your great work! Love reading your stuff.
