What Do I Do With Unwanted Wood Reels?

What do you do with used and unwanted reels?

Unless you want hundreds of reel-shaped coffee tables, you’d like to see them leave your warehouse.

That’s why one of the most common questions we get asked is whether we can take unwanted reels.

The short answer is, it depends!

You can start by asking the following questions:

  • Am I located near a Quality Reel Distribution center? (Houston, TX, Dallas, TX, Winchester, KY)

  • Have reels mostly between 24” and 60” in flange diameter?

  • Can fill at least half a truckload with unwanted reels?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, the chances are good that a company like Quality Reel Solutions can assist in recycling and re-circulating your reels.

If not, you still have options.

Larger reels and greater distances can still be accommodated on a case-by-case basis. We'll let you know what sizes we can take and talk through potential options for transit.

You may also try reaching out some of the larger electrical distributors in your area. We've seen several relationships between vendors and customers, and even between competing electrical distributors working together to share resources such as reels.

Between the cost of disposal and potential ecological impact, we try to help our customers avoid renting a dumpster and sending reels to the landfill. However, we understand sometimes it can’t be avoided.
