What Do The Five Generations Have in Common?

What Do The Five Generations Have in Common?

We hear a lot of talk about how "This generation is so different from that generation," or "The younger generation just doesn't embody the values of our generation!" Gallup has just published interesting research that demonstrates that from a talent perspective- the generations are inherently more alike than they are different. In fact, the Responsibility, Learner, and Achiever talents have shown up in the Top 5 Talents of the Silent Generation, the Baby Boomers, the Generation Xer's, and yes, even the Millennials!

What this says, is that while the events that shaped our lives are different and the technology we use to get work done is different, we are actually, more similar than we might care to admit. All of generations have faced their own share of challenges and barriers. All of the generations have offered creative and innovative solutions to workplace problems. And all of the generations, yes, all of them, are made of up of warm and wonderful people who want to be happy and create wonderful lives for themselves, their friends, and their families. As we are gearing up for Thanksgiving, I challenge you to look at each of the 5 generations in today's workplace through a lens of gratitude and appreciation. Everyone has a gift to bring and the team is stronger because of it.
