New year; who dis?

2025 has arrived, bringing a season of change—and MistyWest is no exception.

For six years, Madison, our brilliant Brand Lead, has shaped MistyWest’s identity with unmatched creativity and care, sharing stories that spotlight the outstanding collaborations, innovations, and partnerships that define this community.

As MistyWest's new Marketing Director, it’s an honour to take the reins. We’re starting things strong, with a look at the highly successful FOUNDERS + FRIENDS at CES, an introduction to MistyVision, and the kickoff to the 2025 Misties Awards recognizing the unsung heroes of hardware.

What do dancing robots, alpacas and computer vision all have in common? ??

They were all part of our FOUNDERS + FRIENDS event in Las Vegas on Jan 9.

MistyWest and our 2025 co-hosts Memfault , Délégation du Québec à Los Angeles (DQLA) (with Montréal International and Invest Quebec | Investissement Québec International ) and SOLIDWORKS welcomed over 500 guests to this highly anticipated party. For our 8th year of hosting during CES, we had a fully decked out roster of partners who brought interactive demos of new software and hardware offerings—and a dance party that lasted until 1am.

MistyWest cofounder Leigh Christie with our FOUNDERS + FRIENDS hosting partners Nordic Semiconductor and Memfault.

Growing into our burgeoning status as a “one-night incubator”, the party’s guest list included product directors and engineering veeps from big names like Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Samsung. Many startups and VC firms were also in attendance, and other recognizable industry faves such as Kickstarter and TechCrunch graced us with their presence.

In addition to our co-hosts, we owe much of the event’s success to our gold partners intent and Edge Impulse ; silver partners August Electronics Inc., Nordic Semiconductor, Form3 Design Inc. and #Robonomics; and demo partners Looking Glass , #OneWheel and LAND Energy.

Check out our 2025 photos if you don’t have the FOMO yet.

Looking ahead-of-the-curve and off-the-grid.

MistyWest brought the novel MistyVision camera to FOUNDERS + FRIENDS—a ruggedized, low-power camera system that enables end customers to build truly intelligent off-grid computer vision.

Currently in pilot studies with a major Canadian airport for predictive maintenance and truck detection, MistyVision’s zero infrastructure requirements can reduce time to market and development costs.

MistyVision is designed around the off-the-shelf edge AI device MistySOM, processing data locally and transmitting only metadata (i.e. number of trucks) for maximum security.
