What do all these beachy business owners actually do for money?

While scrolling though your Instagram feed, have you ever come across a photo of someone on a beach, with hashtags like #workfromanywhere#entrepreneurlife and #lifestyledesign ?

Do you believe it’s possible to live that way?

What do you think these beachy business owners ACTUALLY DO for a living, besides the trust fund brats and rich kids?

Do you think they are veterinarians, lawyers, dentists, fire fighters or police officers?

They could be.

Most beachy business owners, myself included, earn income from multiple sources that all stem from one core talent, and that's what Chapter 6 of the Money Blog for Teens is all about at askLyndsie.com!

Teens need to understand they have unique talents, whether or not you realize it yet, and technology makes it simple for anyone to get paid to share their talent with the world!

Let’s take an equine (horse) veterinarian, for example, because that’s what I thought I wanted to be in grade 11. If I were an equine veterinarian today, what could my income sources be?

  • Charging for my time to travel to and doctor a horse, and sharing my expertise over the phone
  • I could write a book for horse owners describing the 10 most common horse ailments I deal with and the DIY treatments to try before calling a vet
  • Live workshops
  • Virtual workshops
  • Training brand new vets on how to build the business that best suits their goals
Any equine vet could be earning multiple income streams from anywhere with Wi-Fi, without ever touching a horse.

This is why I’m writing a blog/book for your teenaged kids: to share all the stuff I've learned about the 2 key career recipe ingredients: LOVE & MONEY. I want to help teens avoid the never-ending chase…

It’s like pursuing that HOTTIE who doesn’t feel the same way about you… FOREVER!

Unfortunately, that’s what TV and radio ads and the colours, smells and sounds inside every store are designed to do: keep you chasing.

Why? They make TONS of money keeping you in the chase. They don’t give a s*%! about you. They couldn’t care less that you are chasing STUFF that will never bring you fulfillment.

During my seven years working as a financial consultant, I’ve helped many people find the courage to downsize their homes, sell thousands of dollars worth of STUFF they thought they needed to make them happy, reduce their monthly spending on both necessities and WANTS, and save more money each month for their futures. And guess what? All these adjustments left them feeling happier than the bigger home and more STUFF sitting in their garages. Why? Less stuff to care about - to love - that doesn’t love us back.

Less stuff to care about - to love = less chasing the HOTTIE who will never love us back.

Looking back on my life, the thing that boosted my confidence the most was taking the time to grow my talents. It started when I was a young girl, my parents encouraged me to sing and play piano. I entered talent shows and sang in choirs. Mom and Dad paid my fees for lessons and drove me to my singing and piano events. They complimented my improvements, which felt great.

Thanks to both my grandmas, I discovered I loved to sew. Then I discovered I loved cutting, coloring and styling hair, which eventually led me to where I am today, (start at Chapter One to read the back story) with a long list of things I do for money, and here it is:

$$$$$$ Financial Product Commissions (Investments and Life Insurance)

$$$$$ Personal Financial Consulting (helping people with budgeting and understanding investments, life insurance and how to stop loving things that won’t love them back!)

$$$$ Business Commerce & Marketing Design (I build websites and marketing plans)

$$$ Hairdressing

$$ Group Benefits and Health Spending Plans for Corporations

$ Live & Online training for business owners

No matter what your age is or what your baby talent is, pay attention to it. Love it. Nurture it with quality time. And then, when you’re ready, SHOW IT OFF!

If you need help putting your talent on display in the sunshine for all to see, like in the video I made below, hit me up!

Please keep providing clarity on this topic. Your voice is important. Particularly given the contemporary focus, the almost emblazoned requirement on social media that you be your "best" self, which always seems to require buying that one more thing, or upgrading the thing you bought last year. It's important that the next generation learn the reality of this.
