Sometimes after an interview, most applicants are usually not aware of the steps to take after concluding an interview with a hiring manager, While your CV can help you to make a good first impression with your recruiter and hiring manager, what one does after a successful interview can also help one to stand above the other applicants as well.
Below are the steps that one can take to stand above the other job applicants
Send a thank you to the interviewer.
After the interview has been successful, kindly send a thank you email to the hiring manager or Human resource manager, sometimes this is accompanied by a cover letter if you have one to further buttress some of the points you made during the interview.
The format can be seen below
Dear Ms. Nelson,
I wanted to reach out to thank you for taking the time to speak with me yesterday about the social media manager position at Business News Daily.
I enjoyed meeting you and learning more about where your team is headed. Based on our discussion, it sounds like you have a very exciting year ahead with the site updates and customer base expansion.
With the team at such a critical juncture, I’d love to lend my experience and skills to help the team build a stronger customer base and social media presence – particularly bringing my unique lens as a marketer that we discussed during my time working at agencies.
I look forward to speaking further with you and your team to see how I might be able to help you reach your goals. If we’re a good match, I would be very excited at the prospect of working together.
Sincerely,
Get the contact of your fellow interviewees

I always try to connect with my fellow job applicants at every interview that I attend, for starters you don’t know who might be selected, that way you get to know tips that others know and connect with the person who eventually would be successful in the interview and might be privileged to the next time they would be hiring because you connected with them, that is if you aren’t successful, also they might give you information about other job offers if they are successfully chosen since they don’t need for one, or recommend you to the CV expert who made their job winning CV.
In the movie, “Exam” the CEO disguised himself as an applicant as well and was rudely mocked during the interview process, this should also give you a clue that eyes are watching your leadership abilities during the interview process, for some companies the interview begins immediately you step into the office area starting with your punctuality.
Follow the Company’s page on Linkedin
Follow the hiring manager, recruiter, and some of the employees on Linkedin to get first-hand information about what’s happening in the organization, and trends to follow, and to help create an impression in the mind of your recruiter. It would help your recruiter to always remember your name. This would also allow you to know the next time, another job offer or vacancy is available in that same organization if this is an organization you would love to work with.
Assess your interview
You know how people assess their test after every result, assess your composure, posture, and answers to questions asked to know if there was a better way to say the things you had said. Did you dress right, Did you arrive on time? So that when next you go for another interview, you would perform much better. We are all humans and there are times we make mistakes, but the beauty of life is that we learn from the mistakes that we make and those made by others as well.
Request for feedback
After two weeks after every interview, you have a right to know the results of the interview, not all hiring managers are benevolent enough to share the results sometimes because of the large number of applicants or the proper process to send the results. But when you don’t get any after two weeks, Kindly send an email to the hiring manager to get a response on who was selected and why you failed to be a successful applicant.
Hope you now know the steps to take
