WHAT DIVINE LAZINESS & EXTRAORDINARY BUSINESS GROWTH HAVE IN COMMON

You might have been told your whole life that laziness is the enemy - but what if you could harness the power of Divine Laziness to make leaps in your business with ease and joy?

Most of us, when we hear the word â€œlazy”, think of how to avoid it, get rid of it, or overcome it. I want to tell you a different story about the power of laziness and how it can help you grow your business with more ease.

Let me explain how this showed up in my own life recently. You may or may not know that I love gardening, and recently I bought some beautiful, long hanging baskets for our front porch. I wanted to wrap lots of stems around the baskets, so I got my plants ready and tried to organise them in the way I’d imagined.

What I hadn’t anticipated was how big the roots or how bushy the plants would be. I was delicately and carefully trying to thread them all through which was surprisingly difficult and time-consuming. I was agonising over each tiny step until my husband came over and asked what I was doing.

I said â€œI want to put these plants into these hanging baskets and it's really tricky. I don't want to hurt them.”

He went off and came back with some paper to make a protective little tube for the plants. It took just a second to pop through the pot’s hole without damaging it.

The next basket was ready in no time at all whilst the first had taken me at least 30 minutes! I was left wondering aloud, â€œWhy didn't I think of this?” To which my husband responded, â€œWell, you need a lazy person to think of something like this.”

Lightbulb! There I was agonising over the plants for hours when my husband could do it in a very simple way in less than five minutes.

This is a perfect metaphor for two ways of running and growing a business.

There are some of us who do it the first way, taking our time, agonising over each and every step, perhaps being overcautious along the way with a sense of having to â€œget it right".

Then there’s the more fun, simple and easy way without all the second-guessing which gives the same (if not better) results. I call this the Divinely Lazy way. It’s when an idea comes to mind and we’re up and away with it before having the chance to ask ourselves a million questions or worry about if it’s â€œthe right way.”

In my own business, I’ve employed Divine Laziness as a technique for growth.

Let me give you an example. In the marketing and selling of one particular service, my promotion was full-on; sending daily emails, doing multiple lives in the week, and daily posting on social media.

In the middle of the promotion I asked myself some simple questions:

  • Is this really necessary?
  • Am I overcomplicating things?
  • What’s the easiest and simplest way I can make this sell out?
  • How can I make this more fun?

I opened myself up to a “lazier” but more effective and simple solution in my marketing that had a whole different energy about it. And guess what? It worked!

Divine Laziness saves you time.

Working in this way can save you a whole heap of time and conserve your energy so you can spend it elsewhere.

The idea is to make it less work but more fun, more easeful and more effective. It’s about getting into your flow state, staying connected to that which is in alignment, and taking the path of least resistance.

Divine Laziness is very different to standard laziness.

Standard laziness is disconnected from the Higher Self. Think zoning out in front of Netflix all day because there are things you don’t want to face. This is being in avoidance.

Divine Laziness is when you’re acting from your Higher Self connected to your vision. You feel full inside and are operating from a place of abundance, not lack so that your business grows around you in an inspiring and light way.

Divine Laziness and extraordinary business growth have something very important in common: connection to your Higher Self, vision and inspiration in total alignment with your soul purpose.

For sustainable success: give yourself permission to do things in a fun and easy way.

The key is not only to give yourself permission but to expect that this is possible if you want to set yourself up for success. For whatever project you have coming up next, ask yourself the simple question:

“What would it be like if this was easy? How would that look?”

Alongside this, you need to also be growing your firmly planted roots down into the ground with the energy work you do alongside reaching your branches up to the sky in your business. The inner and outer work are both essential for true business growth.

My invitation to you today is to: Choose ease as your path forward and see what happens.

Let me know how it goes, I’d love to hear all about it.
