What a difference a year makes...

A year ago this week, after only 6 weeks into a new job, I was called to the office and heard the dreaded word “redundancy”. I was devastated, I had never been made redundant before, I felt numb and after digesting it, I was scared, especially with the lockdown.

I will confess, that I decided that I would give myself a couple of days to feel sorry for myself, but then I would put a plan together. Firstly on how I would go about looking for a new job but also how each day I would do something in my house that was constructive.

The first thing I did was to share my situation on linked in and I was humbled by the amount of people who were, at the time, strangers who offered their kind words and support and who during the last few months I have got to know and can say have become friends which is something I didn’t expect. We all supported each other even if it was to share how chuffed I was that I had painted the shed!

On the job search front, I registered on the websites, I applied for jobs, increased my network of contacts and spoke to everyone I could and then I had a call from Kevin Probert………..

Fast forward and I am now sitting in my home office, keeping my hubby down on the dining room table and I am part of a team of 3 having set up a new brand in the market, something I never thought I could or would do.

We have had phenomenal support from our clients both old and new and I have never been happier.

I am in control, I am able to provide the service that I believe in for both clients and candidates alike and I was involved in all aspects of setting up the brand, even the scary bits which makes me doubly proud of what we have achieved.

We have had our ups and downs as you would expect but with great people around me and being true to myself and being open and honest, I feel I have benefited tenfold.

I don’t usually put my heart on my sleeve but I would like to take this opportunity to say a thank you to everyone who has helped/supported me ( and of course Hatchling ) to be where we are today and to have enabled us to have  such an exciting future
