What is the difference between single-tenant and multi-tenant cloud hosting?
Rickard Vikstr?m, U.S. hosting expert and CEO of Internet Vikings, shares: “Initially, organizations were hesitant to adopt cloud strategies. As cloud deployments have proven effective in scalability, cost, and security in recent years, that has changed. Organizations of all sizes are adopting cloud platforms rapidly.
Rather than "differences,” I refer to them as “alternative capabilities." In terms of setup, you have exclusive use of infrastructure in a single tenant in-state cloud; there is no sharing with other companies. The only downside is that with critical infrastructure hardware limitations, companies may not be able to scale up as quickly as they’d like, but a major advantage is controlling the entire environment, which enables customization and added functionality.
With a multi-tenant cloud, you have access to the cloud computing power you require, but you do not have complete control over the environment. Your ability to scale up is much quicker, and the cost savings of multi-tenant cannot be ignored, as this is highly favorable. It is important to add that with multi-tenant, each tenant’s data is isolated and remains invisible to other tenants. Your privacy is never compromised."
