What is the difference between a payroll period and a payroll date?

The payroll period is the period of time your employees actually worked. To reduce administration, employers should follow a set schedule where it clearly defines the start and end days for each payroll period.

A payroll date is the specified date on which employee are actually paid for the payroll periods. We strongly recommend to pay in arrears to reduce administration.
