A CV, or curriculum vitae, and a resume are both documents that summarize your education, work experience, skills and achievements. However, they have different purposes and formats depending on your situation and field.
A CV is a comprehensive and detailed document that covers your entire academic and professional history. It is often used to apply for academic, research or teaching positions, or to showcase your professional portfolio. A CV can be several pages long and include various sections such as publications, presentations, research interests, teaching experience, professional memberships and certifications.
A resume is a concise and targeted document that highlights your most relevant qualifications and achievements for a specific job or industry. A resume is usually one or two pages long and tailored to the position or employer you are applying for. A resume can have different sections depending on your background and goals, such as summary, education, work experience, skills and achievements.
The main difference between a CV and a resume is the level of detail and customization. A CV is a static document that does not change much over time, while a resume is a dynamic document that changes according to the job you are applying for. A CV is more common in Europe, Africa and Asia, while a resume is more common in North America, Australia and New Zealand.
