What they didn't tell you at #bschools!!
Often you would find #fresher hires trying really hard to find their space in the #organization. They are clueless inside at times but can't say it for the fear of being looked at, with rolling eyes.
Too much #pressure (lot of it is in their head, there, I said it!!) to impress at the first go, to create an image of a thorough #professional. Anxiety of trying to fit in with half baked corporate lingo understanding and the #stress of proving their mettle from day one.
Here's a small but effective take on the subject and might be of help those of who are just about to begin your corporate journey. How can it become easier for the talent that can contribute so much with their hunger to #learn and grow? This is an often asked question. I have 3 things to #recommend that are actionable, feasible and sustainable:

1. Researching beyond websites- Websites are great source of information but not enough. Go on company's #linkedin pages and other social media pages, visit profiles of relevant professionals, updates and you would get more real time information on what's happening inside the organization. You would also feel warmed up to the work culture and some understanding on how it functions.
2. Find a mentor AND a buddy- You must be wondering if the AND in caps, is a typing error. No, it's not! And for the reason that, same person can't and shouldn't be both. In a corporate workplace, defining boundaries is important, especially when you are just getting started. Being warm and forthcoming is fine but getting friendly with seniors without an invite might not be the most sensible thing.
Finding a mentor is going to help you avoid the pitfalls you might not be aware of. There is no textbook learning compared to what a mentor can get you. On the other hand, having a buddy at work would help you open up and share challenges that you wouldn't be able to share with others.
3. Know your job well- As if you don't know it already! What I mean to imply here is that how part. Asking right questions about your deliverables, expectation setting with the reporting manager and trying to gain some perspectives of how other functions operate are going to help you a long way. You would like to become a part of the workplace as where you belong and not come everyday, waiting for the clock to strike 6 (or 9,10 pm, whatever the workplace culture is like :)) It's not worth if that's a thought. But if it's not, make it worthwhile. Mix up with peers, polite and smiling to housekeeping staff and a quick chit chat with the reception. It ain't gonna hurt anybody. Trust me, you would realize the value of this much later.
Don't worry about how it would pan out. Taking one day at a time, some mistakes, some learnings, some accomplishments and you would go home a happy person, looking forward to the next day with lesser mistakes and more achievements.
