What did you learn today?

What did you learn today?

Whilst reading "The Miracle Morning" by Hal Elron, I came across this quote from Jim Rohn

"Our levels of success will rarely exceed our level of personal development, because success is something we attract by who we become"

On my journey to become a solopreneur I have had to learn a lot in a short space of time to enable me to become who I want to be over the long run. My most recent piece of pedantry was to start to build my own website, so I can put the message about my business out into the world.

It can't be that hard - can it? I already had a blog which I began 3 years ago during my 6 week course learning the art of patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. This was an easy way to keep friends and family updated on my progress (and of course to show off my beautiful creations). The only problem with this was on leaving Paris, I lost my USP and so it 'withered on the vine'.

This time I thought I would do it properly, so I signed up to "WordPress training for 2018 step-by-step WordPress tutorial" on Udemy, got myself comfortable and I was off. David provided a brilliant introduction and took me through the steps at a perfect pace, going over all of the relevant information. I of course got a bit impatient and rather than follow his lead, I skipped to a more interesting session towards the end of the course and did not realise that subsequent lessons would begin automatically from that point in the course. I only realised that I had missed a chunk of useful information from the middle when he referred to something in a previous lesson, so back I went.

Probably the most important piece of information that I missed was the bit about performing a back up before adding in any plugins . . .

So dear reader, today I learned to

Back Up! Back Up! Back Up!

Frustrating as it is, as an experiential learner, I know that this incident has taught me a valuable lesson, one which will of course save me time as I build my business. It's better I make those mistakes now with dummy text and while I am still figuring out how everything works, rather than when I have a everything in it's place.

I can't wait to share my creation with you. In the meantime, please comfort me to know that I am not the only one - what were your biggest mistakes and what did you learn from them?

Yep, I am just starting my journey and I made a stupid clerical error yesterday. I contacted the wrong client about our session. Silly mistake. Not the end of the world. But I don't half feel like an utter failure today, I even dreamt about it. I am now finally recognising through my own learning, that I am not scatty or stupid. I am just impatient. That's ok, but please for the love of god remember to check it twice/read it all!! Lol
