What did I learn from the latest Google Updates? (March 2024).

On March 5, 2024, Google announced the start of the first 2024 Google Core and Spam Updates. I don't know if you were affected by the September 2023 Google update, but it was a significant collapse that caused many site owners to see their traffic drop by 40-80%. ??

Logically, whenever we lose traffic, we start asking the question, what should we do to get it back?

Today, traffic and search output are very volatile; nobody understands what is happening 100%, why search output is going crazy, and how to recover traffic.

??There are tons of theories from different really cool experts ranging from "destroy everything and build from 0" to "do nothing and just wait."

A lot of sites keep losing traffic. But if some are losing traffic, where is it growing? Traffic can not just go anywhere.?(or can?)

The other day, I was looking through my newsfeed on SEO topics in "X" and realized that in the last six months, the community has discussed how sites are losing traffic, and so rarely are there posts where someone shows that their site traffic is growing. But what I noticed interesting is that there is a new cluster of news where they say that if you lose traffic after the latest Google Updates from 2023, you deserve it and that you have a terrible site.

In the end, I think they don't know anything, although they may be right about something.

?? I've personally come to the conclusion that it really does look like no one knows what's actually going on, and it looks like not even Google. Apparently, Google somewhere screwed up without knowing that in its algorithms and is now trying to cover it with new updates. I do not think that there will be rollbacks in traffic and output, but some global solutions Google will eventually present to us in its algorithms.

Just like they'll finally decide what they're going to do with AI content. Whether they will promote it or build a strategy to fight it. ??

What do I recommend doing now?

?? Work through the basic things until there are some specifics, and update the old things objectively. But do not waste your time building websites from scratch. (not yet)

1. The site should have an HTTPS certificate. Having a certificate?is one of Google's ranking factors.

2. Work on the site's security. Change the admin panel's default URL address and create a complex password. Also, create separate logins for each team user who uses the site.?

3. Revise your URLs. Avoid long URLs with unnecessary parameters, template names from the series item1.html, and too many keywords.

4. Revise and update titles where necessary. Title 70-80 characters, Description 150-160.

5. Check your page titles. Make sure that all pages of the site have a main title, H1, and subheadings labeled. The <h1> headline should not repeat the Title. Both can include the exact keywords but not duplicate each other.
