What did I just do?

What did I just do?

I did it! I wasn't sure it was going to happen to be quite honest. Would you believe that the initial inception of the book happened at a café in London back in 2012? It's true! I was sitting at a Café Nero close to New Bond Street while waiting for my girlfriend at the time. Her errand was taken quite a bit of time, and as I was sitting there working and thinking, it suddenly came to me. I should write a book! The idea came from the different keynotes and presentations I have done around the world, and the feedback was always that my presentations were super valuable, but they wanted to know more. More information about my process, structure, and principles.

Then I remembered the Harrington Emerson quote about principles: “As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.”, I recalled how annoyed I was back then about the "light" and careless attitude so many brands had to strategy. One of my clients at the time defined strategy as a curse word. Talk about getting stabbed in the heart. haha.

So I decided to write a book, completely unaware of the process, the pain, the barriers, but also the drivers that led me to this point. 9 years later, I can safely say it has been quite the journey. It’s been admittedly so many times I wanted to give up, and just abandon ship. But for some reason, I stuck to it. Well – I always do when I set myself a goal. I might be overly optimistic as to how much time it will take, but I always reach my goal. Especially when is up to me. I am persistent, I push through – and it ain't over until the fat lady sings! (Ref Fourth of July, Will Smith).

So it is finally here, live at all major book stores globally. It feels surreal, but it feels f***ing amazing! Now I can only hope it lives up to the ambition I intended – to ignite the spark, by using my knowledge, curiosity and passion to inspire you – the people around me.

What is the value of the book? Well... Brand You Economics highlights what influence a brand performance so you can determine what contributes to the bottom line of your brand, and I also share how to;

  • Humanise your brand in seven distinct ways
  • Leverage the power of influencer marketing
  • Cultivate authentic relationships
  • Map the customer journey

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and I hope you are a little bit curious and want to read my book. It’s personal, it’s a culmination of 30 years of experience comprised of 216 pages. Please contact me with feedback, thoughts, critique and praise. It is all welcomed.

Kindly, Arnt
