What did Blue Jackets photog Colin Mayr tell college students?
When first-year photography students at Ohio University visited an alum at the pro hockey team in Columbus, they had plenty of questions.
Colin Mayr , assistant photographer at the Columbus Blue Jackets , told them about his gear, captioning, turnaround times, and a typical day on the job at a National Hockey League (NHL) game.
Mayr graduated from Ohio University in 2022 from its School of Visual Communication. Professor Stan Alost took current freshman students to a Blue Jackets game on October 22, and introduced them to alumnus Mayr.
“It was a lot of fun to talk with the students,” said Mayr, “and I appreciated the opportunity to share some of my experiences with them as they're starting their VISCOM journey.”?
Based in Columbus, Mayr works for the Blue Jackets hockey organization and also covers IndyCar races for Action Sports Photography Inc.
“I provide photos for A.J. Foyt Racing, Juncos-Hollinger Racing, and Rick Ware Racing,” says Mayr.
