What is Dialogue?
Defining what is communication in a group or team, is often taken for granted. Maybe because it is the simplest, most widely used tool for peace-building, conflict, facilitation, coaching ... almost anything. We tend to take it so much for granted.
But the importance of using our words to find solutions to the inevitable conflicts of life and satisfy our needs is one of the foundational concepts of engaging with the other. It is a non-violent tool that holds the solutions to so many conflict challenges. Communication includes skills like active listening, knowledge of body language, eye contact, and other important components of communication. It includes awareness of what approach you are taking to communication.
Dialogue is sometimes mis-presented. Some think it is a natural consequence of communication, others think it's a separate frame. I understand why dialogue can be a difficult term to pin down.
The way I use it broadly is to indicate a process of communication that occurs over time, versus a single conversation, and a process that is intended to increase understanding about others in the dialogue. It may or may not lead to problem-solving. It can be just for the sake of the exchange and exposure to different perspectives.

5 年For me a dialogue is an exchange of information between two or more parts. A dialogue can be the result of several communications, whether in a certain time and place, whether in different times and/or places.
