What will the decision on Business Interruption Insurance claims mean?

There are some interesting times ahead following the decision by the Supreme Court yesterday.

The UK Supreme Court delivered its verdict on the appeals heard in the business interruption insurance test case on Friday, 15th January 2021, in favour of the policyholders.

The appeals were brought by the FCA, Hiscox Action Group and six of the eight insurers involved in the test case, following the High Court judgment which was handed down in September 2020.

The insurance industry expects to pay out over ï¿¡1.8bn in Covid-19 related claims across a range of products, including business interruption policies. If you have a claim that is affected by the test case then we suggest you contact your insurer to discuss what the judgment means for your claim.
