The essence of SDN is to achieve agile deployment of applications, efficient use of computing resources, and more convenient maintenance and management through the automation of cloud resources, computing resources, and network resources, as well as network virtualization and refined operation and maintenance. From the perspective of cloud data center SDN, its overall architecture is shown in the figure:

DCI network architecture design

There are various interconnection requirements between financial data centers, mainly including WAN interconnection, data disaster backup between the main data center and the remote disaster recovery center; and the interconnection between the main data center and the same-city disaster recovery center (layer 2/3 interconnection, storage backup interconnection, interconnection of IBM mainframe geographically dispersed parallel systems).

In addition to the functional requirements of the above-mentioned DCI network, in the interconnection design of the cross-data center, it is also necessary to incorporate the delay requirements of various service systems into the design requirements. As shown in the table, the optical fiber connection of two data centers in the same city usually requires no more than 50KM.

Based on the above requirements, the DCI network needs to provide interconnection at multiple levels as shown in the figure.

When designing a DCI network, it is necessary to consider intra-city and remote interconnection, as well as the interconnection between Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks.

Considering that long-distance optical fibers are not easy to obtain, optical transmission connections are usually only used between 2 data centers in the same city for WAN connection between data centers in the same city, providing dedicated interface channels for IBM hosts, FC SAN, etc. on demand .

At the same time, it also provides the basic Ethernet channel for the interconnection between the Layer 2/Layer 3 networks of the DCI network. Between different places, the operator's dedicated line is usually rented for the WAN interconnection between data centers across regions and the main data center (data disaster recovery backup of the same-city disaster recovery center and the remote disaster recovery center.)

In order to reduce the complexity of the DCI network and avoid cross-data center failures caused by Ethernet loops, Layer 2 interconnection between data centers should be avoided as much as possible. Large and medium-sized financial enterprises have reached a consensus on this requirement when building financial data center networks. .

However, if there is a need (server batches subconsciously need to establish a temporary channel), it is still necessary to provide the Layer 2 interconnection service of the DCI network. Usually, only Layer 2 interconnection is deployed between data centers in the same city, rather than between data centers in different places.

Provides Layer 2 interconnection. Layer 2 interconnection of DCI network usually adopts DCI switch, which is connected to another data center in the same city through DWDM equipment. When the traffic is not large and the latency requirement is not high, the VXLAN Overlay technology can also be used to connect to another data center in the same city via the WAN.

The current data interconnection across data centers is mainly based on three-layer interconnection (ie IP network), which is widely used for mutual access between business systems and data disaster recovery. In order to avoid the intercommunication of two data center VRF instances and change the configuration of the data center core switching network and WAN, and to meet the requirements of large bandwidth and low latency, the DCI switch solution is usually deployed, which is connected to another data center in the same city through DWDM equipment. .

If the user can accept the VRF instance configured on the core switching network and the WAN, and the traffic of the user network is not large and the latency requirement is not high, the user can also connect to another data center in the same city via the WAN.
