What CYBERSECURITY can learn from Morocco's defense strategy at the World Cup.
Well, if you grew up like me, in West Africa, you understand that ‘football is like food.’ Of course, Europeans and South Americans understand this as well. That is why the World Cup is such an amazing event every four years, as countries compete. As one of the great sport legends Pele put it, the World Cup is not only a very competitive tournament, it is also complex.?
As lovers of the game, we have seen that most of the Gold Cup winners do not just have great attackers but they have outstanding defending strategy and tactics. This makes it very difficult for their opponents to score and without any goals, your opponent most likely will lose.
Now we get to my point. Defense wins in Cybersecurity and in Football. Morocco’s defense is difficult to break down just like a robust and proactive cybersecurity strategy is.?I have always argued either in briefing private Enterprise organizations around the world or here in the States, the best cybersecurity strategy is well-planned and thorough. Morocco’s success is built on knowing exactly who or what they are defending against. There is not one blanket strategy for each opponent, as we saw how Morocco had different defensive strategies for both Spain and Portugal.
Just remember, your cybersecurity defensive strategy must be precise, focused and always prepared. This year Morocco has reminded us that a great defense strategy win... even when the odds are against you.
