What is CTO-as-a-Service?

Kwaai Oak founder, Reza Rassool, described the concept of CTO-as-a-Service to a crowd of contestants in the startup pitch contest held at Digital Entertainment World 2015.

Kwaai Oak engineers have been the tech team been several well known businesses and have in total accelerated over 20 startups. This includes Widevine Technologies – acquired by Google in 2010 and Second Sight whose 2014 IPO achieved a market cap of $0.6B.

“We drop-ship a CTO into a start-up and back them up with an engineering team,” explained Rassool. Kwaai Oak is described as a:

• high-touch accelerator
• full-stack practice offering management through to technical implementation expertise
• fee for service consultancy that takes a significant portion of the fee in the form of a convertible note
