The Media Trust Summit will bring together the great and good of the charity sector, media and creative industries for a day of creativity, collaboration and debate. A combination of inspiring talks, thought-provoking panels and interactive workshops from leaders in their field will challenge the way charities think and approach their communications.
So I got cornered by Simona Bogdan who interviewed me and this is how it went.
Tell us about your background and how you became a part of Media Trust?
I became a Producer/Director and Presenter after working for MTV News Networks for many years. After leaving, I ended up as a freelance Producer/Director for various production houses including becoming one of the first producers for Endemol’s Big Brother. Then, I decided I wanted financial freedom and became a Property Investor and ended up, after several years, building a school in Sierra Leone whilst training others to do the same. After sabbatical year from training and a running business, I thought I could lend my expertise to a media organisation that trains media skills. And so here I am at Media Trust.
Your presentation at the Media Trust Summit is called ‘The Power of Storytelling in a Digital World’. Could you summarise its content for us in a few words?
There is an art to storytelling. It’s about connecting at a deep unconscious level. The power to evoke a feeling, a desire, a want or a vision that inspires and moves people to act. My workshop explores that innate power we all have as storytellers and demonstrates how one can translate that story onto a digital medium that can be accessed globally.
