What is Confidence and How do You Get it?
Per Google, “confidence is a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities”.
That's a pretty good definition.
However, it brings up questions.
For example, how do you get a feeling of self-assurance? Or to phrase it a different way, how do you get an appreciation of your own abilities or qualities?
Self-assurance Comes from Successfully Doing or Learning.
To improve areas or abilities, you need to identify what you wish to gain confidence in, write down a list!
Here is how I'd handle this: Goal: I want to be more confident talking to others.
Now, what could make that easier? Looking at baby steps or gradients, a first step could be: I could make a decision to be interested in the other person! (Frantic about debts, bills, lack of money? I was then I found ? WWW.ARC-DIGITALMARKETING.COM It introduces 100% profit, a two hour work day, and automated system. It has worked for 100s and will work for you. Ihe system instructs in baby steps, watch a short video and then do the step.)
That might be too difficult. How about looking at the other person? That shows interest!
A next step could be when Communicating
Be Myself.
Are you getting the idea?
People can naively sense honesty. Sometimes they ignore their sense and listen to someone's words.
That is how politicians talk people into voting for them. They flow a gush of promising warm words with no intention or ability to do what they say. Often their beautiful words mask harmful intentions!
I listen to a speech made by a well known politician. It was remarkable how well he spoke. He was so charming, smiling, and convincing. The whole time he spoke, I wanted to believe him.
His words were so effective. But I sensed, and knew factually, that he was dishonest and only blowing warm, soothing HOT air to hide the harm he had done and was doing!
When I meet some who is not being themselves, I know they are not to be trusted and therefore my conversations with them are only polite. They will never be accepted by me nor be my friends as long as they remain dishonest.
To communicate with people, be yourself. You are a good person and worthy of trust and admiration. Force yourself to smile, it helps. Continue to be interested in them as I am in you :-)
Communicating: Reality or Agreement
When you looked at the person, as noted above, that you want to communicate this makes them feel they are important and real to you.
Are they cheerful or not so cheerful? A good question to break the ice is “How has your day been?”
Whatever they say, acknowledge them. Let them know you heard them. Then get some more information so you can better understand them.
If they say great, ask them “How so?” If they say horrible, ask them “What happened?”
Acknowledge their answer appropriately: “That's awesome!” or “Wow, tell me more.” You're acceptance of their information increased agreement.
Continue to be interested. Would you continue to communicate with someone who is not interested in you?
Tip, if the person is buried in their cell phone, they may be too shy to communicate in person?
Respect them and if they show NO INTEREST, leave them alone.
Gradients to Confidence.
Gradients to confidence involves you succeeding or winning a little bit at a time. With communication, try someone you know first! (Using? WWW.ARC-DIGITALMARKETING.COM you earn as you learn and your confidence grows)
Another example: If you want to learn how to drive, how could you break that down into baby steps?
Ideas on this would be learning the rules of driving. Yes, actually read and understand the laws and rules of the road. The police expect you to know Them
Increasing Knowledge can Increase Confidence!
Learn about the vehicle you want to drive. Get someone to help you with the operation of the vehicle. It is common to do a drivers education which teaches rules, laws, and gives hands-on practice.
Spot the differences and similarities between vehicles and drivers.
How is riding a bicycle different from driving a car? Seems too simple but is it?
Painting is another example. You can get lessons or explore on your own but start simple and work your way up.
A good coach or teacher will take steps to ensure you understand each step and win at the process of learning and doing.
Personal Assistance
Life is full of challenges. Some are difficult, some are easy.
Often the difference is a good nights sleep and some food to help keep the body and emotions under
control.
Sometimes an outside viewpoint can help you spot ways to overcome challenges and situations.
I met a lady the other day. Her day had been horrible. She had made a mistake and expected to be
fired. She worked in a support industry for big entertainment.
I asked her what she would do if fired. Her response was to take a few days off and get herself
together. (Translation, lay down and die or feel sorry for herself!)
I gave her an example about me crashing a motorcycle and then immediately getting back onto it. My point
was the crash had put me at effect. Getting back on the motorcycle and driving off was me smashing that
effect and grabbing control. I won!
She could see this. So I got her looking at options! What's the worst that could happen? Could she
prepare for that now? Could she set up alternatives so if she's fired, she could step away and still be at
cause with new sources of income. ( WWW.ARC-DIGITALMARKETING.COM can provide that income)
She had arrived distraught and upset. She left cheerful and confident that she's survive regardless of the outcome of tomorrow.
She had her life under a better perspective and she was confident.
