What is con/arb objection in CCMA.

A question that was posted:

" I took a matter to the CCMA. Now my ex boss objected to con/arb, what is this?"

Simply put: The CCMA proceedings is two process proceeding. 1. The conciliation process. This is negotiations in an attempt to reach a settlement that both are satisfied with. 2. Arbitration. This is the hearing where various aspects must be proven.

By objecting, the employer is merely stating that he wants the negotiations to take place on one day and the hearing on another (if a settlement is not reached).
