What is Cloud Technology Anyway?
Cloud
Yes, you've heard that before right?
But what is it really?
"Like I hear a bunch of people talk about it but I really don't know what it is or what is does."
So just imagine the amount of people who want to learn this but they are stuck in the analysis paralysis stage where they are just trying to understand what is Cloud Technology.
HERE WE GO
Why is Cloud called CLOUD?
From some research, The concept of cloud computing dates to the 1960s. The phrase originates from the cloud symbol used by flow charts and diagrams to symbolize the Internet.
OK, SO WHAT IS IT?
Let me break it down just so some people can understand.
Yes I know some of us are "Cloud Experts" but we have to understand some people are just beginning their journey.
So, think of Cloud Technology or Cloud Computing as the availability and delivery of computing services.
Think of any storage, computing, networking, software or even analytical services can be offered through cloud.
This helps you literally create and build things for you personally or a business and not have to endure a lot of the cost of having these things available onsite physically.
Think about those servers you have in your office that are in a closet with fans running.
Imagine how much those cost to ship in, setup, and get running.
Now imagine that with Cloud Technology you can literally have a Cloud Service Provider like Amazon, Microsoft or Google help manage those servers in others data centers for you at a extremely lower cost with availability within minutes.
Which one would make sense to use?
That's it!
All you have to do is think of Cloud as a collection of Technology that is offered to you so you can have high availability and delivery of whatever it is you are trying to build, host or deliver through technology!
Whether it be a phone service and communication, video, podcast, data analysis, or anything that your pretty little brain can imagine!
So I know there are folks who ask this question everyday, so I wanted to give you a quick breakdown!
It is simple and easy!
Now, if you've been thinking of learning and getting into the industry as a cloud engineer, we have a great program at LEVELUPINTECH.COM that we would love for you to check out!

3 年Then one should wonder about the shared responsibility model, who can read my data ? Is the cloud provider also a challenger in my vertical and is it wise to put all my IP and R&D at cloud disposal ? If I provide service for third party, I should not forget to read all the T&Cs of each and every service, and the fact that it's mandatory to transfer it to the end user. Security control can no longer be approached as on prem and highly skilled teams in security and governance should oversee your cloud loads 24/7, not even touching the compliance, needed audit trails, the needs of backups as their are non by default. It's extremely complex and expensive, there is a reason why it leaks non stop. So get skilled people, do cost analysis and make sure this is right for you. In the end you should encrypt everything before it reaches the dangerous cloud to avoid cloud providers sneaking into your data. Look as solutions like Titaniam, Inc. , DLP as well, and maybe wait for confidential computing to actually be a thing. Insider threat in the cloud is a critiical issue.
