What is Clean Eating?

What is Clean Eating?

Good Monday to you all;  I trust you had a fun weekend and have begun your 52 week health journey with me. We talked about cleaning out the pantry/frig/ and freezer of all unnecessary and old food. Now let's talk about this "clean eating" movement.

Clean eating doesn't mean bland or boring. It doesn't mean leaving out some of your favorites either. It means eating fresh, whole foods as often as possible and leaving the processed food-like products to a minimum. A good rule to follow is the 80-20 plan. You eat good food 80% of the time and allow yourself  20% wiggle room. That could be a meal, a day, or a special occasion, but it's never a daily thing.  When you start your day with a healthy, nutritious meal, the rest of the day tends to follow suit; so planning your meals is key to your success.

There are a lot of recipes on the web for clean eating dishes that are easy to prepare and super delicious.  Even if you don't deem yourself as a cook, it's ok.  Again, easy dishes is the way to go.  Keep the heavy gravies and sauces to one meal a week, learn to use your slow cooker for busy weeknight meals, and don't be afraid to try new foods like winter root veggies. Remember when it comes to produce fresh is best, frozen is good, canned is last. Stay away from frozen meals as they have too much sodium, too much pasta, and very little protein or veggies.  Feel free to visit my website blogs for some amazingly simply but scrumptious dishes that I made for my family.

Cheers to your health.
