What is ChatGPT? The latest AI Chatbot everyone is talking about.

What is ChatGPT? Elon Musk founded AI Chatbot, taking the internet by storm.

ChatGPT was launched last week on Nov. 30th by Open AI, an independent research and deployment company founded by the World's Richest Man, Elon Musk, and Sam Altman, an American entrepreneur, investor, and former president of Y Combinator.?

Acquiring more than 1 million users within a week of its launch, this platform has made the internet curious?with its human-like replies and prompt answers.?

How is ChatGPT useful for us?

So, for a layman, it will serve you the purpose of your personal AI chatting buddy. The GPT in the name means Generative Pre-Trained Transformer, which means it understands and responds to natural human language and answers questions just like any other human being would.?

GPT is a deep-learning language model that specializes in generating human-like written text. Deep learning, a machine learning method with three or more layers of a neural network, attempts to simulate a human brain's behavior, allowing it to learn like humans.

But there are so many AI Chatbots already available in the market. How is it any different from Siri or Alexa?

ChatGPT uses a fascinating new application of GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks), a neural network that uses two competing networks - a Generator and a Discriminator - to create realistic-looking outputs.?

The Generator creates fake outputs, and the Discriminator tries to tell the difference between the real-world data and the fake outputs. The GAN can produce outputs indistinguishable from real-world data through this back-and-forth process.?

Now, ChatGPT uses this concept in text-based conversations. It uses GANs to generate responses to input texts, allowing it to engage in natural-sounding, human-like conversations.?

For example, if you ask ChatGPT what it would do if it could fly, you might get a reply like," I would soar through the skies like a majestic eagle, feeling the wind beneath my wings and the freedom of flight."

This kind of reply would be very unreal for a human to type in, but it's perfectly possible within the imagination of a human and within the capabilities of ChatGPT.

And how does ChatGPT work?

You could try and check out ChatGPT by logging in to OpenAI's website, clicking on the Try ChatGPT button, and taking a trial.?

OpenAI has trained ChatGPT using a training method known as Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback or RLFH. This method uses a reward and punishment system to train AI. So, whenever it takes action, it is classified into two categories - desirable and punishable. The desired action is rewarded, whereas the undesired action is punished. Through this trial-and-error method, AI learns what works and doesn't.?

OpenAI has also used humans as trainers of AI. Through these conversations, these trainers both played the roles of a user and an AI assistant. But this training method can be a bit problematic, as it can often mislead the model.?

An ideal answer would depend on what the model knows and not what the human demonstrator knows. It will also decline to answer if the question is not appropriate.?

So, if a user asks a complex question or does not phrase the question in a way that ChatGPT understands, the bot can decline to answer.

Will it phase out like BlenderBot 3 and Tay, which faced moderation issues?

Fortunately, it should not. In order to prevent moderation issues, ChatGPT has implemented Moderation API. This AI-based moderation system has been taught to help developers determine whether language violates the company's content policy, which prevents harmful or unlawful content from being communicated. However, OpenAI admits that its moderation API still has issues, and it isn't perfect.

What will be the future of AI chatbots like ChatGPT?

The answer to this question was answered by Altman himself that soon we'd be able to have helpful assistants who talk to us, answer questions and give advice in real-time.?

Though the ChatGPT is free to use for research, the CEO Sam Altman has already hinted that the company will monetize the platform in the future. "We will have to monetize it somehow at some point; the compute costs are eye-watering."

Conclusion:

ChatGPT will alter how we use search engines by offering customers more than simply links to browse from by delivering answers to complex questions and problems. On the contrary, for developers, it is not just a good debugging companion but can also fix a bug when you're asking a question.
