The Humanization of ChatGPT has begun.

BingAI on Edge feels like a chore, what if OpenAI Foundry led to some more entertaining experiences? This article was first published here.

Welcome Back!,

I’m a great fan of Snap’s understanding of product and of GenZ. Their offering humanizes ChatGPT in a new way, closer to the personal assistant we’ve all been craving for years.

It might even impact the stock?SNAP?-0.59%↓?that is currently under $10 for a share.

Snap announced Monday it’s rolling out an OpenAI-powered chatbot named My AI to its Snapchat+ subscribers.

So for Snap this is also about using ChatGPT for conversion-optimization of free to paid subscribers. Their paid offering is really cheap as well and already offers some fun bonus customization options.

I’m really interesting in how A.I. can be used to be a “benefit” that helps convert people into being subscribers.?Snapchat+?is just $3.99 a month.

It’s facinating that GenZ is the mobile mobile-native generation ever, could they also become A.I. native? I don’t see why not. They are going to be navigating Chatbots everywhere from A.I. DJ in Spotify to things like this.

Personalization

It can recommend gift ideas, weekend plans, or recipes, Snap said in a?press release. Users can customize the name and chat background of the “experimental feature.”

I like the ability to customize it according to your preferences. This is also going to be an innovative way these companies are going to get more data and human feedback in general.

“The big idea is that in addition to talking to our friends and family every day, we’re going to talk to AI every day.”

Snap’s CEO understands GenZ among the best of anyone I believe as the app has an incredible retention of GenZ people how have essentially grown up with the app, especially in U.S. users.

The new chatbot will be pinned to the top of the Chat tab. My AI can do things like help answer a trivia question or write a haiku. My AI was trained to have a unique voice and personality that plays into its values about “friendship, learning and fun.” It has also been trained to adhere to the app’s trust and safety guidelines.

Snap is also so candid about how A.I. can hallucinate, I found it actually very refreshing?how they admit all of that?in a transparent way. My A.I. was launched on February 27th, 2023.

The ‘My AI’ bot will initially only be available to paying Snapchat Plus subscribers.

Perhaps when people said that ChatGPT would be everywhere, they weren’t exactly kidding. According to the Verge, at launch, My AI is essentially just a fast mobile-friendly version of ChatGPT inside Snapchat. The main difference is that Snap’s version is more restricted in what it can answer.

Snap is going to get some really good training around their bot:

While My AI is designed to avoid biased, incorrect, harmful, or misleading information, mistakes may occur. Please press and hold on any message from My AI to submit feedback. We look forward to hearing about your experience with My AI. - Snap Team

Snap takes a Chatbot to a playful level where I think it’s more like a game, than a real solution to anything. Perhaps chatting and customizing a bot inside one of your favorite apps will be rewarding.

Immersive Conversational A.I. needs to be fun, light-hearted and entertaining and with all the anxiety GenZ feels for their future, I think TikTok and Snap sort of get what they find entertaining.

“Please be aware of its many deficiencies and sorry in advance!”

  • The integration lets users name the AI along with giving it a custom wallpaper.
  • While Snapchat shared a few use cases for the feature like getting birthday gift ideas, writing poetry, getting recipes, and planning trips, it also offered some warnings.

I guess for me I wonder why I’d have to use Google or BingAI if I can find ChatGPT in an app I already use like Snap? I just got permission to join the New Bing, but it forces me to use Microsoft’s browser Edge, which I have no intention of doing.

Having access to an A.I. should NOT feel forced or like a product push.

Snap’s integration of My AI is also very immediate:

It opens to a blank chat page, waiting for a conversation to start.?

What could be better than that? Just like a new experience. Not all of us want to go search ChatGPT, get access and jump through those hoops, we just want it wherever we are in apps to begin with.

It seems?Snap and Microsoft couldn’t have taken more different approaches?here!

Snapchat highlights to “not share any secrets with My AI and do not rely on it for advice.” It also notes that conversations “will be stored and may be reviewed to improve the product experience.” But don’t expect to find Snap’s warning in the product itself or stated guard-rails, that’s all back-end and implicit.

"My AI can recommend birthday gift ideas for your BFF, plan a hiking trip for a long weekend, suggest a recipe for dinner, or even write a haiku about cheese for your cheddar-obsessed pal," the company wrote in a?blog post.

I’m very bullish on this implementation, Snap is already a very sticky app which incredible product-market fit. So suddenly this may be the place where GenZ interacts with ChatGPT, who maybe want to pay $4 instead of $20. I’d pay myself for any ability to personalize and customize my own A.I. And I think that’s the point here.

While Facebook and Twitter have started paid subscriptions too, I don’t think they understand fully how to convert users and what really matters to them. Twitter’s verified paid accounts have been very poor in terms of adoption of Twitter’s supposed daily active user counts.

According to The Verge, Snap is utilizing a new OpenAI enterprise plan called "Foundry" that OpenAI quietly rolled out earlier this month. It gives companies dedicated cloud access to OpenAI's GPT-3.5 and "DV" models. According to Benji from Ars Technica, Several AI experts have?speculated?that "DV" may be equivalent to GPT-4, the rumored high-powered follow-up to GPT-3.

For GenZ, ChatGPT isn’t mind blowing, it’s just another tool to have around.
