What about ChatGPT?
Unless you've been living under the proverbial rock, it is unlikely that ChatGPT and all the buzz around it have passed you by! I thought it might be worth doing some reading around the topic of ChatGPT and SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).
My first learning point was that GPT stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer.? No, I’m not really sure exactly what that means either, but basically it learns as it goes along while it has a conversation (hence the Chat part of the name) with you.
Although it does not replace Google search (other search engines are available) it provides an alternative, and as such affects SEO and the chances for your page being found.
It can help to summarise search results - an example I read was that if you search for “Beef Wellington recipes” you will get a ton of pages which may or may not contain a decent recipe.? By asking ChatGPT you get - a recipe. I tried it - it does exactly that, without having to trawl through different pages (most of which are full of adverts).? Wow.??
The reading I have done so far counsels against using ChatGPT to create blog posts and web pages - for no other reason than Google sniffs it out as AI-generated!
But - it can be used for social media posts, and things like creating email campaign copy, landing pages and for just getting content on a page to “get you started”.

It can also do keyword research for you - and give pretty good results.?
According to one article it can give you a Content Marketing Strategy althoughI haven’t tried this out personally yet.?
One warning? that you might want to take note of is that your competitors might ask exactly the same questions so you would risk generating identical content!
One of the hardest things to do to bump up your SEO rankings is to come up with good, SEO-friendly titles - but here ChatGPT can be your ally, giving you a list of great titles for your blog post (but see the warning about competitors above!)
It’s early days yet, and the technology is still “learning”.? There have also been criticisms that it can be quite biased and have errors.? However, if you use it sparingly, perhaps in the ways indicated above, it may save you hours of staring at a blank screen. And I can categorically state that I wrote this WITHOUT using ChatGPT! I have used it for a couple of social media posts, just to see what happens....
Just my initial thoughts - would be interesting to hear others' take on the "threat" or "opportunity" of AI and ChatGPT?
