WHAT IS THE CHARACTER LENGTH FOR DESCRIPTION TAG??????

As everyone is busy searching for the answer google officially announced the new change to the techys.

A description is what we see just below the url in the SERP, it is also called as SNIPPET or description tags.

Even I have wondered to use effective ways which include all the information for people who wish to know whats inside the page.

327 CHARACTERS or 2300 PIXELS as per what I figured on searches. Let's say it should look good and feel less bulky for the surfer. An Apt description goes like this,

The update was officially out on DEC 1 and no results were shown in the results. It is best if you guys could keep on tracking things or write and post things on the media so that you can catch visits to your websites

LEAD ORIENTED - TITLE - URL - DESCRIPTION - EMAIL ID - PHONE NUMBER - ADDRESS

WEBSITE VISIT - TITLE - URL - DESCRIPTION - CONTACT (Don't give them the exact and full contact details in the description) let them click on the page to view more.

From my end I would say 160 - 230 characters suits it best for both mobile and desktop searches.
